Logs
Instructions for adding a log entry
Log in to GitHub and navigate to the
logsfolder: https://github.com/digbmc/dsgf/tree/main/logsSelect Add file -> Create new file. Give it a filename that is unique and ends with the suffix ‘.md’ (for markdown): e.g. ‘update-alice.md’
- Because the filename will generate the url for the post, it should contain only URL-safe characters (i.e. avoid spaces, special characters, and punctuation, but you can use hyphens). URLs are case-sensitive and I recommend using all lowercase letters.
Give your log a YAML header that includes your name, the date, and a title (this should appear at the very beginning of your document).
--- title: My update date: 2025.09.17 author: Alice ---Follow the markdown guide for formatting. For advanced features, please see the authoring section of the Quarto guide.
Once your post is deployed, you will see your entry below. If it doesn’t appear, there may be an issue with the yaml header or filename.
If you would like to add your post as a ‘draft’ (so that it will be visible on GitHub but will not render on the public-facing website), add
draft: trueto the YAML front matter.
